International Paper Co. has agreed to pay $5.2 million to settle a lawsuit that claimed the company was liable for a car crash caused by an employee who was talking on a company-provided cell phone. The plaintiff in the case eventually lost most of her arm following medical complications. Attorneys for International Paper maintained that the employee was not talking on the cell phone at the time of the accident despite witness reports to the contrary.
